Don’t you always wish that there was a way to just let go off all the security concerns and use your PC with a complete peace of mind?
We thought of helping you achieve that frame of mind, by preparing a list of most powerful free Antivirus softwares of 2010!
1) Microsoft Security Essentials: If you are the kind of person who gets annoyed when an antivirus software comes in the way of your work, then say hello to Microsoft Security Essentials.

It’s super-fast, unobtrusive and works like a charm. Anti-malware testing group AV-Comparatives.org gave Microsoft Security Essentials their best ranking and top rating for malware-removal.
Note: Microsoft Security Essentials works only on Genuine copy of Windows. If you are looking to install it on a pirated copy you may follow this tutorial. Click here
We always recommend that you use a Genuine copy of the OS. Microsoft Security Essentials is compatible with Windows XP, Vista and 7.
2) Malwarebytes Anti-Malware: If you have a malware infested machine and just want to get rid of them then look no further than Malwarebytes Anti-Malware. It will definitely help you keep those nasty malwares at bay. It’s a lightweight application with the ability to perform a quick scan of the entire system in just 8 minutes.

The Realtime Protection Module uses advanced heuristic scanning technology which provides live protection to keep the system safe and secure. However, this Realtime protection module is for registered users only.
3) Avira AntiVir Personal: Everything about Avira Antivirus is perfect except those annoying pop-ups reminding you to become a premium member to avail more security features. The ad’s however, show up once in a blue moon and can be closed with a single click.

It doesn’t necessarily have all that great an interface but it does the job of malware detection and disinfection perfectly. It is one of the most reliable antivirus out there and the top PC-mags always recommend it.
4) AVG Antivirus: AVG Antivirus has been a hot favorite among users for a long time. It’s been protecting users from viruses, malware and other external threats since 1997.

Users love it mainly because it doesn’t hog much system resources and also because it’s not a nagging piece of antivirus solution. It is a complete package containing antivirus, antirootkit, antispyware and also web shield + linkscanner that actively protects against malicious content from Webpages by scanning download links.
5) Avast Antivirus: Avast is quick to install and easy to use. On installation, avast runs quietly in the background to protect your PC against all known forms of malware with a real time virus protection.

Many users hated the default music player look which although customizable created awful lot of confusion, especially, to newbies. In Avast 5, however; this has been replaced with a sleek UI which is much more systematic and easy to use. The antivirus, antispyware, and heuristics engines of Avast form a very strong security core that also includes multiple real-time shields.

I don’t really think malwarebytes is an antivirus. It will run with a seperate anti virus so it is a good addition.
A million thanks for posting this infmroaiton.
