The recent Android 1.6 is still only available for a minority of the Android devices out there and already we get a peek into the yet-to-be-announced Android 2.0.

The folks at BoyGeniusReport got their hands on this update and from the initial peek it looks pretty slick, matching iPhone 3GS’ agility (although much of it depends on the hardware beneath).
Here are some of the new features shipping with this update:
- Comprehensive Voice control support spread throughout the system.
- Upgraded Google Maps with layer support.
- ‘Car Home’ app offering large icons for easy access while driving. Also, supports voice control.
- Unified email inbox combining multiple email accounts.
- Upload YouTube videos in just 2 steps with the new widget.
- MS Exchange support out of the box.
- Double-tap zoom for the web browser.
- Facebook integrated with Contacts.

There are lot of small tweaks which collectively enhance the usability to a good measure. This is still far from finished and needs a lot of polish. We can safely expect it to be available by Christmas.
If this wasn’t enough, check out this video of a rumoured Motorola device (Droid apparently) running on the new OS.
