iPhone DevTeam member is all set to release SmartScreen app!

I frequently use the dashboard feature on my Mac as it helps me quickly peek at the weather info, jot down notes, look up stock quotes and do several other amazing things. I always wanted something similar on my iPhone and till date had to resort to intelliscreen app. Despite being useful, intelliscreen has some issues. This is what the BigBoss has to say:

I recommend avoiding intelliscreen because I believe it drains battery. More importantly, it hooks springboard but does so *directly* bypassing the safety of mobile substrate. This can cause system wide instability. The “performance boost” mode is known to cause instability and incompatibility with other apps

Fortunately, Wizdaz – one of the iPhone DevTeam members has announced a wonderful new application for the iPhone (Jailbroken only) called SmartScreen, to be released under his startup MediaPhone. Similar to the dashboard on the mac, Smartscreen provides widgets like weather, stocks, calender etc which work on the iPhone lock screen!

Wizdaz is also making an SDK available so that developers can create widgets for different apps like Facebook, Twitter etc. Won’t it be great to check Twitter updates without having to even unlock the iPhone?
