Wohoooo! iPhone 3GS 3.1 jailbreak is officially out! Kudos to the Dev Team!
However, things aren’t all that hunkey dorey for everyone. If you updated your iPhone 3GS to 3.1 firmware directly via iTunes and haven’t saved your SHSH to cydia then you are out of luck. The same holds true if you purchased an iPhone 3GS already running 3.1 firmware. This is what the Dev Team has to say:
The iPhone 3GS is now supported in PwnageTool 3.1.3, assuming the phone was pwned at 3.0 or 3.0.1 – PwnageTool does not support the 3GS out of the box. If your iPhone 3GS has 3.1 preinstalled and is not Pwned then there is no tested jailbreak solution at the moment.
iPod Touch 2G users have a reason to rejoice!
The iPod 2G is now supported in PwnageTool 3.1.3, assuming the iPod 2G was pwned at 3.0 or 3.0.1 – PwnageTool does not support the iPod 2G with 3.1 software out of the box.
I will be writing a tutorial on how to jailbreak your iPhone 3GS 3.1 firmware using PwnageTool 3.1.3 very soon.
NOTE: The PwnageTool is for MAC users only. Windows users keep your fingers crossed and hope that the dev team release redsn0w real soon.
