How to jailbreak iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch running on iOS 5.0.1 (Untethered)!

by Rohit on December 27, 2011

This holiday season is certainly proving out to be a delight for the Jailbreak community. Earlier today, Ryan Petrich and Chpwn released a legal siri port to iPhone 4 and other older iOS devices. Now Pod2g has joined the party by releasing the much awaited untethered jailbreak for the iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPod Touch 4G, iPod Touch 3G and first generation iPad with the help of Chronic Dev Team and the iPhone Dev Team.

In order to jailbreak (untethered) your iDevice, please make sure that it’s running on iOS 5.0.1 firmware. If it isn’t then check the download links at the bottom of this post to download and install the firmware. Once you are done, follow the guide below:

1) Download Redsn0w.
redsn0w 0.9.10b1 for OS X
redsn0w 0.9.10b1 for Windows

2) Double click on Redsn0w and click on the jailbreak button.

  • Without releasing the power button, hold the home button for 10 seconds.
  • Release the power button but continue to hold the home button for 15 seconds.
