Ever since the iPhone 3.1 jailbreak (using Pwnage 3.1), users have been complaining that certain cydia apps aren’t working as usual. Instead of answering all the emails individually, I felt it would be better to create a compatibility list. So here you go:

3.1 no thanks! not yet anyway.
@nimmolo Yeah you are right. It’s better to hold off on a 3.1 update if you are used to certain cydia apps. However, I am sure Saurik is working on a fix and all the incompatible apps will become compatible real soon. Let’s hope for the best!
I updated my 3GS with a jailbroken 3.1 firmware and restored my Cydia apps with PkgBackup, but the iPhone was constantly in MobileSubstrate Safe Mode after that. So I narrowed it down, also with the help of this list, and finally found out it was due to Saurik’s Cyntact – which is here listed as compatible. At least for me, or maybe in general on the 3GS?, that’s unfortunately not the case.
Anyone had the same experience?

How come winterboard does not respring no more and just freezes on 3.1 ??!?!
@Iggy Mobile Substrate has been updated to version 0.9.3043-1. and it fixes the issues some extensions (like WinterBoard) are having with the new dyld “shared cache” in iPhone OS 3.1.
So just update MOBILE SUBSTRATE from cydia and enjoy using Winterboard on your iPhone 3.1 firmware.
Note: Cycorder works on 3.1.2, at least certainly on my 2G. I don’t know if it ever worked on 3.1 before, but I have now upgraded and restored (with the excellent PkgBackup, which lets you restore your Cydia apps one at a time, or in groups of trusted and untrusted, if you like).
